vizelj
Vizelj is a trailblazing rock’n’roll band from Belgrade, known for pioneering the new Belgrade underground sound. Their music defies easy categorization, blending classic rock, psychedelia, new wave, punk, and electronic beats with funk basslines to create a postmodern tapestry of sound. Formed in 2013, Vizelj has captivated audiences with their energetic live performances and memorable radio hits. The band includes Veljko Milinković on guitars and vocals, Aleksa Nedić on bass and vocals, Jelisaveta Todorov on drums and percussion, and Pavle Petrović handling keyboards, sampler, guitar, and harmonica.
Vizelj’s influence extends beyond their music; they are the founders of the biggest alternative art festival in Belgrade, ‘Hali Gali,’ which showcases a new generation of regional punk-rock bands. Their debut album “Naj bolji” (“The Best”), released in 2017, features the hit “Nosorog” (“Rhinoceros”) and introduces their self-proclaimed “quasi-punk” style, characterized by bold lyrical constructions, catchy hooks, and a blend of humor and irony. Their second album, “Ne vidim te od dima” (“I don’t see you from the smoke”), released in 2022, explores a broader spectrum of musical influences while still maintaining their punk ethos.
Vizelj’s performances are known for their improvisational nature, often leaving audiences transformed by their boisterous energy. They have toured extensively, including notable performances in Great Britain and Ireland in 2019, and have been recognized as one of the key independent artists in Europe by IMPALA’s ‘100 artists to watch’ for 2023. With appearances at major festivals such as Liverpool Sound City, EXIT festival, and Europavox, Vizelj continues to be a significant force on both regional and European stages.
